Early Drop is our answer to Beaujolais nouveau. It is made using the very earliest cider apples such as Morgan Sweet, Early Red Jersey, Sweet Blenheim, Ellis Bitter, Somerset Redstreak and Major which are harvested in late August and through September the juice from the different varieties is added to the cider in sequence of ripeness. These varieties tend to be high in nutrients and combined with the warm weather ferment very quickly. The resulting cider tends to be cloudy and low in tannins. We aim to get the first bottles to our retailers by the third Thursday in November or ‘Somerset nouveau’ day as we like to call it!
